Friday--January 9th, 2015

The MAC has announced it's 2015 schedule (but not the dates).

The UMass schedule looks like this:

09/12/15  at Colorado 2-10 0-9 in the PAC 12
09/19/15 Temple 5-6 3-4 in the AAC
09/26//15 at Notre Dame 8-5 including a win over #23 LSU in the Music City Bowl
10/3/15 Florida International 4-8 3-5 in Conference USA

MAC home games:

Akron 5-7 3-5 MAC Beat UMass 30-6
Kent State 2-9 1-6 MAC UMass won 40-17
Miami (Ohio) 2-10 2-6 MAC UMass lost 42-41
Toledo 9-4 7-1 MAC UMass lost 42-35

Away MAC games:

Buffalo 5-6 3-4 MAC UMass lost 41-21
Bowling Green 8-6 5-3 MAC UMass lost 47-42
Ball State 5-7 4-4 MAC UMass won 24-10
Eastern Michigan 2-10 1-7 MAC UMass won 36-14

Not an easy schedule. Colorado is not a good team, but playing them at mile-high Boulder is a difficult road trip. Notre Dame as I blogged recently, will lead the nation in 2015 in returning starters. The Irish could be a Top-Ten team in 2015.

Temple crushed Vanderbilt 37-7 and played Penn State tough at Penn State losing 13-30. Florida International lost to Bethune-Cookman, but played high-powered Rice pretty well.

So far in FBS, UMass has not won over a non-MAC team or beaten a MAC team with a winning record. The Minutemen will have to do both to bowl-eligible in 2015.

Penn State QB D.J. Crook who went 6-9 and 1 TD against UMass is transferring to Albany.

According to an unofficial list on NFL.com UMass TE Jean Sifrin will declare for the NFL draft. January 15th is the deadline.
